Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik paid obeisance to the presiding deities at the Baladevjew Temple in Kendrapada town on Monday afternoon.
He offered his prayers to the deities at the Snana Mandap (bathing pedestal).
Patnaik announced developmental projects worth Rs 2 crore that include infrastructural development of the temple and its vicinity.
This is Patnaik’s first visit to Kendrapada district after the general elections. The visit of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo assumed significance keeping in view the coming poll to the Patkura Assembly constituency necessitated due to the demise of BJD candidate Bed Prakash Agrawalla during the election process in April.
The BJD has fielded Agrawalla’s widow Sabitri Agrawalla for the Patkura poll against Bijay Mohapatra of the BJP. Sabitri Agrawalla was present during the Chief Minister’s visit to the Baladevjew Temple.
All eyes will be on the poll outcome as it is heading for a tough contest.
