All Dalit and tribal MlAs belonging to both Opposition and ruling parties on Thursday got united and submitted a memorandum to Naveen Patnaik demanding reservation-based promotions for SC and ST officers. The MlAs in the memorandum alleged that the State Government has been depriving SC and ST officials of reservation-based promotions knowingly even though the Supreme Court has given a direction to give promotions as per the laws enacted by the State Government in 2013-14 and 2014-15
Earlier, the MlAs had submitted this memorandum to the Governor, Chief Secretary and Secretaries of all Government departments. Adivasi Forum general secretary Sura Sethi threatened that more than 10,000 Dalit and tribal people would take to the street if SC and ST officers are not given promotions soon.
The MlAs included Dr Prafulla Kumar Majhi, Jagannath Saraka, Padmanav Behera, Purnachandra Sethi, Prafulla Kumar Pangi, Mahidhar Rana, Mangalsingh Mudi, Rabinarayan Nayak, Krushna Chandra Sagaria, Bhujabal Majhi, Duguli Kanar, Ganeswar Patra and Pramila Mallick.
