Obviously seeking to remain in limelight of national politics, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday once again raked up the ‘Federal’ issue and suggested that due attention be given to boost the Federal spirit of the country. Addressing a mammoth gathering after taking salute at a Republic Day parade at the Barabati Stadium, Patnaik said the Federal structure is an integral part of the Indian Constitution.

“The interests of all States would be properly protected, and India would march in the path of progress if more attention is given to the Federal structure of the country,” he said. He said his Government from its own resources is now implementing a lot of programmes for infrastructure development and to provide social security to the masses in the State.

“Odisha has created a unique identity of its own in the sectors like agriculture, irrigation, industrial development, skill development and implementing several welfare measures,” Patnaik maintained. He claimed that the recently-launched Biju Express Highway project by his Government would be a milestone in the field of communication in the State. On the Rs20,000-crore Shelter Security Mission launched earlier this year to provide low-cost affordable housing for poor; he said it is a historic step in the housing sector.
