Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday presented the Smart Policing Awards to DGP KB Singh at the State Secretariat here.
Earlier, Commissioner of Police YB Khurania had handed over these awards, which were received by the Commissionerate Police on May 5, 2016 from Union Minister of State of Home Affairs HP Choudhury, to the Chief Minister.
Notably, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) gives away Smart Policing Awards for best policing practices in India.
The Odisha Police had gotten two awards, one for recognition of various steps taken by the Commissionerate Police in the twin cities for the security of senior citizens and another for enhancing security of women in the year 2014-15.
The Chief Minister advised police personnel to keep up efforts towards safety and security of citizens with better and smart policing.
“This was an outcome of fine team work of the Commissioner Police officers filled with a high sense of commitment and dedication to their duty,” said Khurania.
