'Naveen patient, Modi ventilator, CBI oxygen'

Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh here on Saturday said the Congress supports the GST Bill, but Prime Minister Modi is not keen to let the Bill passed.

Ramesh was addressing a Press conference within the 24 hrs of the statement of Union Minister of State for Finance Jayanta Sinha here that the Congress used every possible excuse to stall the Rajya Sabha over the GST Bill.

Referring to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's support to the NDA Government, Ramesh commented, "Modi is ventilator, CBI oxygen, Naveen patient."

Supporting the incidents of egg hurling at Ministers in Odisha, he said it is another medium of protest practised all over the world. Then, after some years, erring politicians would be greeted with hand grenades. Then that would also be a medium of protest.

What is the hope of the common man for justice in the chit fund and mining scams in Odisha after the statement of Union Tribal Affairs Minister and Odisha's sole BJP lok Sabha member Jual Oram that the CBI probe into these scams have slowedIJ Ramesh asked.  He said Oram's statement has pointed to the Centre's kid-glove approach towards Odisha's BJD Government on the chit fund and mining scams. It has also raised a finger at the neutrality of the CBI's action. The Modi Government's soft-paddling of the two mega scams in Odisha has been due to the support it wants to get from the BJD in the Rajya Sabha, he added.
