Naveen not friend but foe of people: BJP

The BJP on Saturday dubbed Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik as the enemy of poor people while alleging that he was shedding crocodile tears by announcing various welfare schemes before the elections.

Slamming Chief Minister Patnaik for promising to provide subsidised rice at Re 1-a-kg in his election meetings, BJP State spokesperson Samir Mohanty said, “The repeated promises have exposed  BJD Chief’s lack of confidence and fear of losing the battle of ballots this time in the face of Modi wave,” Mohanty said Patnaik has been scared of imminent defeat.

“He  is instilling fear in the minds of the people in the run up to last phase of poll. The statement is aimed at hoodwinking the poor and innocent people,” he said and urged upon the people not to go by such unfounded and gullible stories being hatched by the BJD Chief.

Citing an example, he said the BJD Government had been looting the subsidized rice by giving only 25 kg instead of 35 KG.He wanted to know whether a chief Minister who had been looting 10 kg  of rice from each BPl family is a friend of poor or enemy number one. People would teach a lesson in the last phase of polls to the BJD Government and vote for BJP to form a Government at the Center and  in the State as well.

He said BJP’s Manmohan Samal had initiated the subsidized rice scheme while he was a Minister under the BJP-BJD coalition government in 2008.Informing that Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh had introduced the scheme much earlier, the BJP spokesperson wanted to know why Patnaik was yet to provide Re 1-a-kg rice along with Rs 5-a-kg dal and free salt to BPl families.  He said BJP would continue to provide 35 KG rice per month if voted to power.

Mohanty said due to faulty agriculture policy the farmers were resorting to suicide. While the Chhattisgarh BJP Government is giving farmers Rs 300 as bonus per quintal of paddy, the Odisha Government has been denying the benefit to its farmers. He also Slammed Patnaik for not properly implementing health care scheme in all the districts. Citing another example, Mohanty said people who were affected in the Super cyclone are yet to get due Government assistance and damaged educational and hospitals have not been reconstructed completely.
