Naveen needs protection, BJP his Samarthan'

Pradesh Congress Committee president Prasad Harichandan on Thursday alleged that the BJP’s recent Mahasangram rally turned into a ‘Mahasamarthan’ for the ruling BJD as both the parties are expecting help from each other for their sustenance.

“BJP national president Amit Shah turned the State unit’s Mahasangram into a Mahasamarthan for the BJD. It is because Naveen needs protection (from scams and corruptions) and the BJP needs Samarthan (people’s support) in the State,” Harichandan told mediapersons after the Congress’ Nava Chintan Shivir concluded here. He said while the Naveen Patanaik Government has been involved in chit fund and other scams, the BJP president’s silence has helped Naveen heave a sigh of relief.

“BJP State leaders were stating that Amit Shah’s Mahasangram will leave Naveen with sleepless nights. Actually, Naveen didn’t sleep that night for being very elated over Amit’s Samarthan,” Harichandan said.

The PCC chief informed that his party would hold three more Chintan Shivirs at different places to strengthen the organisation. Besides, it would hold Padayatras at seven phases between March and April to make people know about the scams and corruptions committed by the BJD Govt and the communal agenda of the BJP.

AICC Odisha-in-charge BK Hariprasad alleged that Shah has been perplexed over the Supreme Court’s direction that he mustn’t stay in Gujarat. “Amit Shah’s alleged involvement in Sohrabuddhin Sheikh’s fake encounter case has forced him to take membership of another State’s BJP unit,” Hariprasad said in reference to Shah’s recent membership in the Odisha unit of the BJP.
