Berhampur loksabha Youth Congress Committee president Ajit Kumar Panda alleged that the ruling BJD Government had failed in all fronts and was indifferent to the cause of youths, women, SCs and STs, students, labourers, and Government servants. Besides he charged that the State Government was in habit of shifting its responsibility to the Congress-led UPA Government for all its failures.
During last 14 years of its tenure, the Chief Minister has made scapegoats to 24 of his Cabinet colleagues with intent to cover up his own failures, misdeeds, and faulty anti-people policies, he said.
In 2000, only two out of 30 districts were Maoist infested, whereas now, Maoists are running a parallel Government in 22 districts in the State. Similarly, the crime rate has increased by 14 per cent, while rape cases have risen to 34 per cent at rate of four rapes taking place every day on an average, he alleged.
In a memorandum sent to Governor SC Jamir through RDC (Southern), he alleged that the rising incidents of gangrapes in Pipili, Paikamal, Puri, and Mahakalpada speak of the real picture of the atrocity on women.
He went on saying that the BJD Government had also been indifferent to the cause of farmers as 3,700 farmers have committed suicide due to loan burden during its tenure.
“The ruling BJD came to power with assurances to provide one lakh jobs to unemployed youths of the State every year, whereas during last 14 years of his tenure, the Government is not able to provide even 50,000 jobs as evident from the fact that there are 1, 55,000 Government jobs lying vacant,” he pointed out.
Countering the repeated allegations of the ruling BJD against the Center, he said that during last three financial years, the BJD Government had surrendered Rs 21,000 crore of Central funds for failure to spend them.
Panda launched a scathing attack on the BJD Government on chit fund scam, mining loot, NREGA and PDS irregularities. Stating that four per cent of the State’s population is in hunger, he demanded resignation of the Chief Minister forthwith.
