Followers of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on microblogging site Twitter has crossed the 5-lakh mark.
Patnaik has the highest number of followers on Twitter among politicians of Odisha. He is followed by BJP leader and Union Minister Dharmendra Pardhan with 4.55 lakh and BJD MP Baijayant Panda with 2.70 lakh.
On Sunday, Patnaik congratulated Odia para athlete Jayanti Behera on her winning gold for India in the 400-meter event at the World Junior Para Athletic Championships and that's when his Twitter follower count crossed half a million.
Patnaik had joined the microblogging site on September 9, 2015 with “Jai Jagannath…” as his first tweet.
Sources in the BJP IT cell, however, claimed that in reality their leader Dharmendra Pardhan is the most popular politician in Odisha.
