'Naveen has betrayed poor, Dalit women'

The BJP Mahila Morcha on Wednesday alleged that the Naveen Patnaik Government has betrayed poor and Dalit women a lot and sought action against the accused in three cases where women were victims of highhandedness of Government officials and ruling party leaders.

The Government expelled Bijaylaxmi Mallick of Puri district’s Gopinathpur from the SGH Master Book Keeper post merely because she fought the Sarapanch election held in February, alleged Morcha president Prabhati Parida.

Parida said Mallick was removed in violation of SHG norms while many BJD-supported candidates were protected under such conditions.

Similarly, Ranjita Gochhayat of Brahmagiri in Puri distrct was beaten up by a male IIC in the public. Though Ranjita has approached the State Commission for Women and the SP seeking justice, yet no action has been taken, lamented Parida.

Raising another issue, Parida said BJD ZP members of Jajpur district knowingly hindered woman ZP member Mamina Mallick from speaking at the ZP council meeting recently.

Parida said Morcha members would take to the streets against such anti-women stand of the Naveen Patnaik Government soon.

The Morcha would hold meetings at 100 places to create awareness about pro-woman welfare schemes of the Narendra Modi Government at the Centre between June 26 and July 26, she said.
