Pradesh Congress Committee president Jayadev Jena on Tuesday alleged that Naveen Patnaik had neglected the farmers over last 13 yrs of BJD rule.
About 3,700 farmers have committed suicide during the 13 years’ rule of the BJD, while the CM has hardly cared to pay a visit to any deceased farmer’s house to show his solidarity with the bereaved members, Jena alleged, adding that the State Government was pursuing a visionless industrial policy under which water meant for agriculture was diverted to the industrial houses. “The farmers are suffering due to distress sale of paddy in W Odisha. The Govt needs to waive the loan of farmers and supply adequate water to the agricultural land,” Jena said.
