Naveen forced to axe K'put BYJD chief

Published on:

In a belated act, BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday suspended the Koraput district Biju Yuba Janata Dal (BYJD) president Dharmendra Adhikari from the party for anti-party activities. Adhikari has specifically been named in the police complaint lodged by Congress candidate of Jeypore Assembly seat Tara Prasad Bahinipati in connection with the murderous attack on his brother and nephew in a hotel room at Jeypore on April 11 midnight. Naveen Patnaik was apparently forced to act against Adhikari after 10 long days in view of strong public resentment and Congress’ demand to take action against the assailants. Patnaik’s move was indicative of imminent arrest of Adhikari and his accomplishes as promised by DGP Prakash Mishra to three senior Congress leaders who met him in morning.
