The Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC) held a meeting at the old bus-stand here on Wednesday on the issues of the Special Category State status and allocation of Central funds to Odisha.
PYC president Sangram Keshari Jena said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is the main hindrance in the way of progress of the State. He has failed to utilise the funds allocated to the State. Only to divert the attention of the common people from the chit fund scams, the ruling BJD held Swabhiman Samabesh in Delhi on the plea of demanding Special Category State status.
After a period of 13 long years of his rule, the Chief Minister recently declared a Youth Policy which doesn’t have anything material to serve the interests of the youth.
PCC president Jayadev Jena said Naveen Patnaik is losing his ground fast and the Swabhiman Samabesh in Delhi was nothing but his political stunt, particularly when Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram has constituted a committee to make the guidelines soft for inclusion of Odisha as a Special Category State.
Addressing the meeting, Union Minister Srikant Jena alleged that Naveen Patnaik is facing people’s wrath for his alleged involvement in multiple scams.
Jena further alleged that the Chief Minister has assigned responsibility to 60 families to loot the valuable mines of the State. Patnaik is only harping on the so-called apathy of the Central Government to divert public attention from the scams and failures of his Government, Jena said.
