Reacting to the election results in five States on Tuesday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday congratulated the Congress, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and others for winning in the polls.
“I congratulate the Congress, the TRS and the north-eastern parties for their success in the elections. It clearly shows the mood of the nation, said Patnaik.
“These States are agrarian States. The BJP Government at the Centre more or less ignored the recommendations of the Swaminathan Committee Report and loan problems of the farmers. This led to the results in Assembly Elections in several States,” said Patnaik while speaking to reporters.
“As I said often before, the BJD remains equidistant from both the BJP and the Congress,” he added while responding to a query over the possibility of a Mahagatbandhan ahead of the 2019 elections in Odisha.
Patnaik further said, “Though we have extended issue-based support, we remain equidistant from both the BJP and the Congress. There is no firm ‘Mahagatbandhan’ now and let’s see what happens in future.”
