Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers and Statistics and Programme Implementation Srikant Jena on Monday said the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved upgradation of the Jharpokharia-Baripada-Baleswar section of the National Highway-5 at a total outlay of Rs760.73 crore.
The four-laning of the section would be done under the National Highways Development Programme (NHDP) IV.
The 80.6-km project would be developed on the Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT-Annuity) in Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) pattern.
Jena said the project is expected to reduce the cost and time of travelling in the route.
He expressed hope that the project, when completed, would accelerate industrial and commercial activities in the region as the road stretch is intercepted by
two major NH-6 at the
starting point and NH-60 at the endpoint.
