Senior Congress leader and leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Narasingha Mishra on Thursday met and held discussions with All

India Congress Committee vice-president Rahul

Gandhi at the latter’s official residence in New Delhi.

Amid speculations about a change of guard in the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee, when questioned by mediapersons about the meeting, Mishra said discussions were held about

political developments in the State and at the Centre.

When asked whether any discussions were held about change in the State Congress leadership, Mishra said an individual is not important; the party is important. leaders can come and go, but the party would remain. He further said the Congress is not weak. Strategy is being formalised to strengthen the party.

When asked about the State Government’s formulation of a new policy for tribals’ development, he said the BJD Government is actually trying to kill the tribals. The problem is that there are two different Governments at the Centre and in the State, which are competing in telling lies.

He also lashed out at the Central Government for abolishing a number of schemes like BRGF for welfare of the backward districts.
