At least 15 schoolchildren had a miraculous escape when the van in which they were returning home was hit by a truck near Markatnagar under the Bidanasi police station on Saturday afternoon.Police said the van of a public school carrying children aged between 10 and 15 years was hit by a cement-laden truck on the new PWD road. While the heavily-damaged van skidded dangerously off the road, its occupants escaped with minor injuries.
Police said all the children were sent home after first aid. While both the vehicles were impounded, the drivers managed to escape from the spot and are on the run, police said.
