As soon as the State Government provides the land for the proposed electric loco periodical overhauling (POH) workshop at Narla in Kalahandi district, the project works would begin, said Minister of Railway Ashwini Vaishnaw during his visiting to Kalahandi on Saturday.

Pointing out that while more than 300 acres land is required for the project, 141 acres has been provided by the State Government so far, he appealed to the citizens of Kalahandi to press for the required land.

The Indian Railways had sanctioned the project in the 2017-18 Budget with an estimated cost of Rs 186.37 crore. “I am here to get the blessings of common people. My aim is to connect the railway in the district and solve peoples’ problem. As Prime Minister Modiji belongs to a common family, we don’t have to learn from others,” the Minister said pointing to the State Government.

While attending a meeting at Bhawanipatna, Vaishnaw said a rail line project from Junagarh to Ambaguda would be started soon. All the pending projects along with expansion of railway line to Dharmagarh from Junagarh would be expedited.  The Minister said, “I offered my prayers to the deity Maa Manikeswari here at Bhawanipatna. As the Prime Minister has given me my responsibility, I must fulfil it.”

Vaishnaw was accompanied by Kalahandi MP Basanta Panda. BJP district leaders Debendra Mohanty, Bhabendra Panda, Badri Narayan Pattnaik, Sudhir Ranjan Pattjoshi, among others, were present.
