Congress Legislature Party Leader Narasingha Mishra once again in the State Assembly on Monday criticised the State Government for the rise in crimes and alleged that police are taking action against the victims instead of the accused.
Quoting the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, Mishra said while people’s assets worth Rs 130 crore had been stolen last year, police managed to recover only 31% of it. He said the Government should pay the rest amount to the victims in case police fail to recover the stolen properties. “Crimes are occurring in Balangir and capital city Bhubaneswar very often. Murders are being committed in Bhubaneswar in broad day light, but police are not getting any clue.”
He said police are troubling victims in Balangir. Ruling party leaders are behind in most of the crimes, he said.
Stating that the DGP and the Vigilance DG are free from corruption, Mishra wanted to know why their departments are not functioning properly.
