leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Narasingha Mishra again on Tuesday wrote a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik requesting him to attend an all-party meeting convened by the former at the Hotel Swosti Premium here at 11 am on Wednesday to discuss the Mahanadi water issue.
Mishra wrote the letter to the Chief Minister for the third time as he failed to get response from the latter to his earlier two letters. He too urged invited leaders of all political parties and eminent persons to attend the meeting.
“As Chhattisgarh is constructing barrages upstream the Mahanadi, there is every possibility that adequate water will not flow up to the Hirakud Dam and other downstream areas, I, on July 7, wrote a letter to the Chief Minister requesting him to convene an all-party meeting to discuss the issue. As he didn’t respond, I again wrote a letter on July 25 requesting him to fix a date and time and a suitable place for holding such a meeting. He didn’t respond this time too. Hence, I have decided to hold a meeting with leaders of all parties and some eminent persons to discuss the issue,” stated Mishra in a Press statement.
Mishra too stated that leaders and all others who have been invited by him should rise above party lines and meet at the venue to discuss and plan out steps in interest of Odisha.
