Public meetings were held at different places in Nuapada district by the BJP on Friday. Hundreds of people of nine gram panchayats of Boden block gathered at Khaira and staged a demonstration in front of the Revenue Office.

Party leaders criticised the inability of the Naveen Patnaik Government in fulfilling basic needs of people. In a memorandum addressed to the Collector of Nuapada, the agitators pointed out that five to ten per cent of deserving people in every village are excluded from the NFSS. They demanded a fresh survey and issue of ration cards to the poor households.

The agitators also demanded construction of mega drinking water projects, construction of a barrage across the river Indra near village Jharnamal for irrigation, payment of input subsidy to farmers for the year 1015-16 and supply of electricity to bore-wells.

The memorandum was submitted to the Khaira Circle Revenue Inspector. The demonstration was led by district president of BJP Krushak Morcha Sanjay Tiwari.

A similar demonstration was held at Khariar in front of the NAC office which was led by Khariar BJP town president Bikash Singhal.
