Nalini Pradhan faces office of profit charge

Sambalpur BJP MP candidate Nitesh Gangdeb has levelled an allegation against his BJD counterpart Nalini Kanta Pradhan that the latter still holds an office of profit with the State Government and demanded cancellation of his candidature.

He has stated that Pradhan held posts in Odisha Construction Corporation Limited (OCC) and Odisha State Police Housing Welfare Corporation Limited (OSPHWC) before filing his nomination on April 4.

The Returning Officer (RO), acting on the allegation, has fixed Saturday as date of hearing on Pradhan’s nomination.

But BJD sources said Pradhan is a responsible man and he tendered his resignation in due time before filing nomination. But due to laxity on the part of the National Informatics Centre (NIC), his name was not deleted from the website.

In another development, Bhubaneswar Central BJP candidate Jagannath Pradhan has accused his BJD rival Ananta Narayan Jena of holding an office of profit.

Pradhan alleged that Jena was still officiating as the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) Chairman.

As Jena filed his nomination without resigning from the post, his nomination should be rejected, Pradhan said.

“Ananta Jena has filed a false affidavit and did not mention about the criminal case pending against him,” wrote Pradhan in his complaint filed before the ADM on Friday.
