The Nalco’s refinery plant at Damonjodi produces 6,087 tonnes of red mud, 1,350 tonnes of fly-ash and 40 tonnes of lime grit every day.
Industries Minister Debi Prasad Mishra informed this in the State Assembly on Thursday in a written reply to a question put by member Krushna Chandra Sagaria.
The Minister said the State Pollution Control Board has asked the Nalco authorities to reuse these waste materials to optimum level and to dump the unused in red mud pond and ash pond.
According to the SPCB, the company is dumping all red mud in its red mud pond and reusing 70 per cent of the fly ash. It is dumping the rest 30 per cent of fly ash and selling away all lime grit to other companies for reuse.
