The 7th Session of India-Russia Sub-Group on Mining under the India-Russia Working Group on Modernisation and Industrial Cooperation met in New Delhi on Tuesday to identify areas of collaboration. Indian industries were represented by Nalco CMD Dr TK Chand among others.
Dr Chand pitched for the Angul Aluminium Park, a joint venture of Nalco and Idco, as a potential area for cooperation for Russian investment and technology collaboration, which was agreed by the Russian side.
Industry experts say this will bring in Russian high-end technology in downstream units of the park, which will help the park achieve global standards.
Besides, there are areas like collaboration for strategic minerals like cobalt, lithium, etc., which was also agreed upon. Pursuant to this, top global companies like UC Rusal, KJTS, UHM, etc., will visit Odisha.
The Angul Aluminium Park is set to become a major centre in the world for aluminium downstream activities.
