The highly energy-efficient, state-of-the-art alumina refinery of the National Aluminium Company ltd (Nalco), located at Damanjodi in Koraput district, has been accorded ISO 50001:2011 Energy Management System certification by DNV-Gl of the Netherlands.
It may be mentioned that ISO 50001:2011 Energy Management System certification aims at identifying energy intensive processes and adapt appropriate technological measures to reduce the specific energy consumption. With the certification, the Nalco has achieved a distinct milestone in the nonferrous segment that further strengthens the company’s intention for pursuing Green Initiatives. Apart from meeting and exceeding the provisions of the standard, these initiatives will also enable the company to achieve the targets set by the Union Ministry of Energy in the aluminium segment. The certificate was handed over by Nalco Director (Production) PK Mohapatra to Executive Director (Mines & Refinery Complex) RK Mishra at a function held in Bhubaneswar.
