The Mahanagar Nagarik Manch condemned the interference of the police in the demonstration of Ravenshaw University students against the increased course fees on Saturday. With a scuffle with the police, more than five students were injured and admitted in hospital.
“Instead of fulfilling the demands of the students, the authorities have made tight security in the campus,” said Manch members and demanded withdrawal of deployment of police forces from the campus. A delegation of the Mahanagar Nagarik Manch met the Cuttack DCP and submitted a memorandum to him in this regard.
Manch convenor Chittaranjan Mohanty, advocate Sukant Nayak, Bijaya Rouray and Khirod Rout, educationist Akhaya Das and Khageswar Sethi were present, among others.
