The administration blocked all routes from Nabarangpur district to Chhattisgarh and set up seven border check- points in Kosagumuda, Chandahandi, Raighar and Umarkote blocks to monitor flow of people and vehicles from Chhattisgarh to Odisha. Also, police checking points were set up at strategic places. Besides, the inter-State bus service plying from different pockets of Nabarangpur district to Chhattisgarh and vice-versa would be suspended from Saturday. Nabarangpur district is located close to Chhattisgarh. People of bordering villages of both the States have socioeconomic ties.
So, cross-border movement of people at large numbers could not be stopped unless the border was sealed.On Friday, as many as 27 positive cases were reported in the district, taking the total tally to 164. The district administration has made the Covid Hospital functional again.
