The Nabarangpur district police on Tuesday nabbed four masterminds involved in a job fraud racket from Jayadev Vihar in Bhubaneswar.
The arrestees were identified as Shiba Swain, Ramesh Chandra Mishra, Sumitra Nayak and Diptimayee Nayak. The police swung into action after a complainant of the district, Kabita Nayak, alleged that a job fraud racket, operating in the name of a computer training organisation (Addwell Global Service Limited) in Nabarangpur and Brahmapur area, duped 500 youths on the plea of providing jobs with high salaries.
A special team of the Nabarangpur police conducted raids at a number of places and finally nabbed the masterminds from Bhubaneswar. The police also ascertained that the racket has also swindled nearly Rs 10 lakh from people to open a head office in the state capital.
“The accused persons had collected Rs 4,200 from each aspirant and they cheated as many as 500 job aspirants on the pretext of imparting computer training in Brahmapur and Bhubaneswar. After failing to provide jobs, the fraudsters neither returned the money nor provided any job to them,” police said.
Later, the accused persons were forwarded to court after interrogation. Police have also seized several incriminating documents and a laptop from the arrestees’ possession.
