Harshamani Dei, Supervisor, ICDS, Chatiaguda Sector, Sinapali, Nuapada, was arrested in a bribery case on Monday.
She was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 80,000 from a complainant for appointment of his sister as Anganwadi Worker.
Dei had earlier demanded Rs 1 lakh; however, she conceded to reducing it to Rs 80,000. She had asked the complainant to meet at the Sinapali bus stand and hand over the cash.
Dei was however caught by the Vigilance at Sinapali bus stand during a trap.
Later, simultaneous searches were launched on the residential rented house of Dei at Khariar, her native village at Aunlabhata and her office chamber at Sinapali.
The Koraput Vigilance registered a case and carried out further investigation. Dei was to be forwarded to court.
