The Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP), the natural beauty of which was ravaged in the Cyclone Fani, will bring in six new guests, including two anacondas and two giraffes, soon to attract tourists.
The NZP authorities are planning to bring two giraffes, two yellow anacondas and two grey wolves, totalling six, from other States, according to information.
The animals will be brought from Mysore Zoo, Chennai’s Arignar Anna Zoological Park and Indore Zoo, respectively, in an animal exchange programme before Durga Puja.
The NZP has only one giraffe namely ‘Khusi’. Authorities hope that female giraffe Khusi with a new male partner will increase their numbers.
Meanwhile, only one male grey wolf is surviving in the zoo after death of a female wolf recently.
The yellow anaconda snakes would be brought to the zoo for the first time.
