The death of Gangpur police station IIC Deb Kumar Gamang on Friday took a new turn on Saturday as mother of the cop claimed that two more policemen were present at the house when the incident took place.
Gamang’s mother told reporters on Saturday that two ‘three star’ police officials were present with her son at home at the time of the incident.
“Two police personnel (three-star rank officers) were with my son at home. They (guests) asked me to go to the bathroom, which I did. Moments later, I heard gunshots and saw my son lying in a pool of blood when I came out,” said the deceased’s mother.
Her claims have given a new twist to the entire mystery surrounding the events and circumstances that led to the death of the police officer. Questions have now been raised over the purpose of the two other police officers visit and the subsequent firing incident.
Earlier on Friday, Deb sustained two gun shots wounds on his body, below waist. Later,, he was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead by the doctors.
