Mystery shrouded the recovery of a youth’s body from a field at Dahi Sahi village under the Betnoti police station in Mayurbhanj district on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Gopinath Nayak (28) of the same village.
The villagers found the body lying flat on its face and the nose bleeding profusely.
Reports said the youth had consumed liquor at night. Though exact reason of his death is yet to be ascertained, excessive intake of alcohol is assumed to have claimed his life.
But some locals suspected that the youth might have been killed elsewhere and his body dumped in the field.
On receiving information, Betnoti police reached the spot and recovered the body. The cause behind his death would be ascertained after post-mortem, police said.
