Amid hue and cry across Odisha over the abduction and murder of five-year-old girl Pari in Nayagarh district, another minor girl was allegedly raped and killed in the Baghamara area under the Nilagiri police limits of Baleswar district on Monday.
As per the family members of the girl, she had gone to a pond in the locality in the morning when an owner of a brick kiln and his manager forcibly took her to a place and raped her. The duo also thrashed the victim and made her consume poison. The girl then returned home in a critical condition, following which her family members rushed her to the Nilagiri Community Health Centre.
She was later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital as her condition deteriorated. However, she died while undergoing treatment.
On the other hand, police said the girl’s family members were opposing her love affair with a youth and had thrashed the girl. She consumed poison when she had gone to the pond for bathing. Police have registered an unnatural death case into the incident and started investigation.
