While mysterious sheep deaths continue to haunt Niali residents in Cuttack district, an incident of such deaths and missing of goats in Nuapada district on Tuesday have sent alarm bells ringing among the residents and the district administration.
Sources said at least six goats died due to unknown reason while more than 10 are missing at Junali village under Sadar block of the district. The goat farmers Haraprasad Kharsel and Bharat Roul, who own the animals, are perplexed over the deaths.
They are aggrieved over the Forest Department’s failure to identify the animal that has killed the goats.
On the other hand, the Forest personnel said the reason of the animal deaths would be ascertained only after the autopsy of the goats is carried out and pug marks of the animal at the spot are identified.
