Mystery shrouds the murder of an elderly couple at Rajgangpur in Sundargarh district on Tuesday midnight. The police are still clueless about the assailants and the motive behind the crime.
Sources said Jalaram Kaspata (60) resides along with his fourth wife Dumuni(55) at Bhikapada village under Rajgangpur police station. The other three wives of Jalaram had died earlier.
later, Jalaram had fallen in love with Dumuni and had married her. Jalaram had three children from his past three wives. Out of the three children, daughter Sanu lives with Jalaram and Dumuni. The two sons Silas (14) and Anthoni (7) are studying in a school and staying in hostel there.
The FIR lodged by Sanu on Wednesday stated that some miscreants had knocked at the door of their house on Tuesday midnight but when her father did not open the door, the miscreants had entered the house through the tile and clay roof and attacked the couple with axe and iron rods.
Hearing the screams of the couple, Sanu, who had slept in the other room, got up. She saw the three miscreants fleeing from the spot but she was too shocked to react.
On Wednesday, Rajgangpur PS IIC PK Jena along with forensic team rushed to the spot and seized the dead body. Sundargarh SP Nikhil Kanoria also visited Rajgangpur and inquired about the murder. The locals suspected that Jalaram might have been attacked as the miscreants suspected him of possessing Hanuman coins. Earlier, he was attacked for the same reason and critically injured.
