The body of a popular Sambalpuri album artist, Simran Singh, a resident of Jharsuguda, was found under mysterious circumstances near the Mahanadi bridge at Burla on Thursday.
Sources said Simran, who had more than two crore viewers in her Youtube page, had married Joga Suna of Belpada in Balangir district few months back.
But the mother of the deceased alleged that she was getting tortured by her husband’s family and her death is a case of murder.
Police recovered the body from the riverbed and sent it for postmortem. “We can reach a conclusion about the death only after we get the autopsy report,” the police said.
“But from circumstantial evidence, it was presumed that it might be a case of murder and later she might have been dumped. If her body had been thrown from atop, it would have borne multiple injuries, but that is not the case,” the police said.
