A day before the famous Shivaratri fair at Vedavyas here, the suspicious death of a minor girl near the temple on Monday created panic among the locals. A five-year-old girl, who was residing in a slum area near Vedavyas Temple road under the Brahmani Taranga police station, had been missing since Sunday morning.
Following a complaint lodged by the girl’s father Chotelal Sharma, the police started investigation on Monday and later found the dead body and dress of the girl near a foothill. Preliminary post-mortem report revealed that the death of girl was due to suffocation and cold in night. Investigating is on as the cause of her death is yet to ascertained, said Brahmani Tarang PS BIIC U Pradhan.
