The pleasant winter evening of the Rajarani temple on the second day of the music festival and the colourful lights and appliqué works forming a befitting setting synchronised with enchanting and sonorous renditions of music by great stalwarts.

Odishi vocalist Mitali Chinara and ace flautist Pandit Ronu Majumdar from Mumbai presented some of their best performances.

Chinara’s first presentation was Madhushree – Sajani Go and Shyama Bandhu Ku set to Rag Jati and Tal Ektali. It was followed by Natyangi – Sajani Sarigali lajare set to Rag Mishra Mangala Kamodi and Tal Rupak. Her concluding item was from Gita Govinda Dhira Samire Yamuna Tire set to Rag Mohana and Tal Ektali, where the music was composed by late Pandit Raghunath Panigrahi.

The music lovers present were deeply engrossed by the superb and impeccable elaboration of different Ragas and musical patterns, clear tonal quality and musical renderings. The presentation was highly applauded for it was intellectually satisfying and emotionally appealing.

In the second phase internationally acclaimed flautist Pandit Ronu Majumdar from Mumbai presented a classical flute concert based on various Ragas. His Bansuri kept juggling between eras and reminded the audience of the mythical Ras leela of lord Krishna and his Gopis. He was accompanied by Pandit Sudhir Pandey in Tabla and Shri Jabahar Mishra in flute. The atmosphere inside the temple premises was not only musical but thrilled the music lovers for whom the flute play of Pandit Ronu was indeed memorable.

The dignitaries who graced the occasion were OTDC limited general manager BP Mishra, Tourism Deputy Director UK Pati and art critic Tabati Choudhury. The programme was conducted by Sadhna Shrivastava and Shrinivas Ghatuari.
