A photographers' circle 'Mushroom' organised a seven-day photo exhibition titled "A different view" at the lalit Kala Akademi here. Around 115 frames were exhibited in the gallery by 50 members of the club. President and founder-member of the club Sumon Sinha said they had great response to the exhibitions in the past and expect the same in this year also.
He also said, "Works of amateur, professional and novice photographers are on display. The photographs include landscape, temple architect, and nature as well as wildlife."
He added, "We want to promote tourism of Odisha through our lenses. We are trying to showcase the beauty of Odisha. The objective of organising such exhibition is to encourage budding photographers and generate a competitive mind among them."
Sumon's works, exhibited in the gallery showcased Ashtami Puja, Govardhan Puja, a scene of Bhattarika and a monument photo of Parsurameswar temple. We are also preserving the monuments through photography, he said.
A passion photographer and one of the founder members of the club Jitendra Pati said, "Photography is like breathing life into the lifeless, and this view is shared by each and every member under the Mushroom umbrella." A photograph of Jhamu Yatra captured in Pipili by Jitendra was a crowd puller.
A portrait photograph clicked by Jitendra was of a Kondha tribal woman with wrinkles in her face. Professional photographer Sanjit Pattanaik exhibited Puri Rath Yatra through his masterful stroke. He also exhibited snaps of Kartik Purnima near river Kuakhai, celebration of Holi and an early morning in Chandipur beach in the gallery.
Swati Mohapatra had two frames in the gallery, which she captured in Chilika. Her works displayed in gallery were silhouette in genre. The blackish water was eye-catching.
Another attraction in the gallery was Soumya Ranjan Mishra's frame, which has a different vision of a village scene with a bullock cart. Though it is monochrome, it draws the attention of viewers. Other members have also captured vivid images and exhibited in the gallery. The exhibition inaugurated by eminent social worker Braja Dash will conclude on October 4.
