The unified check-post at luhurachati under Sohela police limit in Bargarh district is allegedly collecting lakhs of rupees from the truck drivers by bending rules.
According to sources, some politicians and dalals (middlemen) are active in the gate. A monthly token is distributed to truck drivers at the rate of Rs 900 for 10 wheelers and Rs 1,100 for 12 wheelers for entry from Odisha to Chhatishgarh and Chhatishgarh to Odisha without much scrutiny by the RTO and the police.
If they don’t pay, the drivers face different types of scrutiny like licence, document and fitness etc. The color of the token is changed on monthly basis. All this is done, even as the check post has been stopped since April 1 for GST rule. locals have demanded an impartial inquiry into the matter.
