A mysterious death case of Jayant Pradhan of Bayeja village of Kishore Nagar police station in Angul district has been cracked. The police arrested the murderers after seven days under pressure after the villagers launched an agitation. Jayant's wife along with three accomplices was arrested and forwarded to court.
Jayant was rescued by Fire personnel from SapnaSahi road of PipalaBahal- Bayeja road on March 10 in a serious condition and later, was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment but he was declared dead during treatment.
On March 14, the Bayeja villagers had besieged the police station, alleging that Jayant's murder was premeditated. Later, the police changed the direction of the investigation.
According to police, Jayant had married Rajashree Rani Dehury of SahajBahali village as per Vedic rituals four years ago and both them have a son. Rajashree was staying at her father's house for the last eight months due to misunderstanding between them.
Although her father-in-law tried to make a compromise between both of them repeatedly, but it was all in vain due to Rajashree's unyielding nature. VikasBhoi was a very close friend of Rajashree's brother Shakti Ranjan who often visited Shakti's house and in the meantime a love affair developed between Vikash and Rajashree. But Jayant was an impediment on their way.
On March 10, around 9 pm, Jayant was returning from work when he was attacked with a baseball bat by Jayant and his friends. They later threw the baseball bat over a railway track in an isolated area.
Finally, Vikas (23) of Saishri Bihar under Ainthapali police station, Rohan Pradhan (22) of Puniapada and VikasKumbhar(23) of AnuguliaBasti were arrested on charges of murder. The police also seized the baseball bat from the railway line. As per direction of the Angul SP, the Angul DSP Akshay Kumar Panda and Kishore Nagar IIC LabaBoda arrested Jayant's wife Rajashree and the three accused and forwarded them to court.
