The District and Sessions Judge Court convicting two murder accused sentenced them for life along with Rs 15,000 penalty and in default another nine months’ term.
Sailendra Narayan Padhi (42) of Mangalpur village under Basudevpur police station limits of Bhadrak, while on his way to Baleswar for some work on his bike, was attacked and murdered by the convicts Ashim Ranjan Khatua (23) and Achyutananda Das (28) of Dolagohira village under Remuna police station on April 4,2012 .
The accused persons then took away his ATM card and fled the spot. The accused were apprehended from Chandipur when they were trying to use the stolen ATM card to draw cash. The brother of the victim had lodged an FIR in the Khantapada police station.
