A prisoner in the District Jail here died on Monday morning.
According to sources, deceased Hari Kanhar (64), had been admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital on April 11 following an illness and brought back to the jail after treatment.
However, he was rushed to the hospital again after he suddenly fell ill on Monday morning, but died on the way.
The Town police are investigating the death of the prisoner. The exact cause of his death would be known after postmortem, police said.
A native of Mugersuga village under the Baliguda police station, Kanhar was convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. He was in the District Jail since January 16, 2004.
