IAS officer Yeddula Vijay was on Monday appointed as the new Collector of Malkangiri district.
The appointment was made after outgoing Collector Manish Agarwal got transferred as the Deputy Commissioner of Planning and Convergence Department after a murder case was filed against him on Sunday.
Police registered the murder case against Agarwal and three others following a directive issued by the Malkangiri Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court in connection with the death of the Collector’s Personal Assistant (PA) Deb Narayan Panda in December last year.
Panda had gone missing on December 27, a day after which his body was recovered from the Satiguda reservoir. It was then suspected that he might have committed suicide. However, around six months after his death, his wife Banaja and other family members alleged that he was murdered by the Collector and some of his staffs.
