Mundali JNV needs flyover for students' safety

The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), one of the founding model schools of the Union Government at Mundali in Cuttack, is in dire need of a flyover.

Since the State Highway between Bhubaneswar and Athagarh runs near its boundary, over 500 students and teachers have to pass through the busy road everyday to join the school for physical training and game class. This has posed a threat to their safety, said Principal Ramraj Singh while addressing the parents - teachers annual council (PTC) meeting recently.

He said that last year the PTC members had met MlA Pravat Tripathy, MP Bhartruhari Mahatab and district Magistrate Nirmal Mishra to sort out the problem soon. The Principal, however, urged the newly constituted PTC to follow up the leaders and the School and Mass Education Minister to sort out the issue.

Vice Principal G Prasad Rao briefed about the constitution and functions of the PTC. He said that of the last batch students, eight have been selected in MBBS, while four others selected in NIT/IIT entrance exam.

Senior teacher Nibedita Padhi coordinated the function where teachers AK Nanda, PK Barik, Subrat Samal, SS Jha, AK Nemu, MK Badatia, Nilakantha Mishra, SK Suman, Tapaswini Panda, lili Jha, SK Murmu, Nishad Anwar were present. Over 200 parents joined. PGT AK Nanda proposed a vote of thanks.
