MPC students demand parity

Published on:

The postgraduate students of Environmental Economics in the local MPC (Autonomous) College under the North Orissa University have demanded an equal status for their subject as  being enjoyed presently by other traditional subjects at the PG level.

There should be no discrimination against the subject at any level in any way, they said, and recently submitted a memorandum to the NOU Vice-Chancellor to this effect.

Notably, the issue is, at present, an MA in Environmental Economics is not being considered at par with an MA in Economics.

Abhishek Panda, Rashmirekha Bhuyan, Shreya Midhra, Dipteerani Singh and Chinmayee Barik, students of MPC Auto College, met NOU VC Pradeep Kumar Chand and submitted a memorandum. They urged the university authorities to pay urgent attention to the issue. Meanwhile, the matter is now under careful consideration of the concerned authorities, it is learnt.
