In a surprise move, Koraput Congress MP Saptagiri Ulaka visited Jeypore and interacted with his local party office-bearers and mediapersons. He was greeted by the party workers for his appointment as the AICC secretary in-charge of Chhattisgarh by Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi. Ulaka told the gathering that he had earlier committed to the people of his constituency about staying half of his MP term at Rayagada and another half at Jeypore; so, he would now be shifting to Jeypore soon.
Ulaka said he would take regular follow-up steps for the Jeypore-Boriguma road, the much-awaited flight service from the Jeypore airport under the Udaan scheme and a four-lane road to Jeypore for which the concerned Union Ministry has already given green signal. He informed that all necessary steps have been taken by the concerned Ministry for shifting of the electric towers from the proposed local Kendriya Vidyalaya site and classes would commence soon.
Local common people welcomed Ulaka’s decision to stay at Jeypore as he would be the first MP since Independence who would stay in this principal town of Koraput district.
