MP-MLA faceoff sparks tension at Pallahara

Published on:

Tension prevailed during the launching of a Covid Care Centre at Pallahara in Angul district as supporters of Dhenkanal MP Mahesh Sahoo and Pallahara MLA Mukesh Pal had a faceoff over the inauguration of the health facility on Saturday.

The trouble erupted when Sahoo allegedly passed some ‘abusive remarks’ against Pal after the latter inaugurated the Covid Care Centre in the absence of the former. Notably, both are BJD leaders.

As per reports, the district administration had informally invited the local MP and the local MLA for inauguration of the Covid Care Centre at the Pallahara Adarsh Vidyalaya.

However, Sahoo arrived at the venue almost 20 minutes late. It was alleged that Sahoo lost his cool when he found that the MLA had already inaugurated the centre in his absence.

The MP allegedly made some objectionable comments against the MLA which was protested by the latter’s supporters. There was a verbal duel between the two sides and slogans were raised against each other.

Pal slammed the MP for his remarks, but Sahoo said he made the remarks against the opposition parties and not against any particular individual.
