MP Hansda's bail plea rejected

The Special CBI Court here on Thursday rejected the interim bail plea of Mayurbhanj MP Ramachandra Hansda.

The suspended BJD MP, arrested by the CBI in connection with the chit fund scam, had moved the court seeking permission to submit his property and asset details in Parliament and also to avail the health card. He also sought permission to attend the Winter Session of Parliament which began on Thursday.

On Tuesday, the court had reserved its bail plea verdict and posted the hearing.

The Odisha High Court, in March this year, had allowed the MP to attend to attend Parliament session for a day while in the custody of the central investigating agency. Hansda had attended the last day of the Budget session.

Notably, a lok Sabha member needs to attend the House for a day in order to retain the seat failing which a seat is declared vacant on a member not attending sitting of the Parliament at a stretch for 60 days.
