The Youth Congress staged a rail roko at the city railway station here on Friday protesting against the killing of five farmers in Madhya Pradesh in police firing.
The slogan-shouting activists halted the Falaknuma Express and Bhubaneswar-Bhadrak-Berhampur Passenger trains at the railway station. Earlier, the activists led by senior party leader Suresh Routray took out a rally from the Congress Bhavan to the railway station.
They also protested the arrest of AICC vice-president Rahul Gandh in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised many things for the development of farmers but has failed. The Congress has always fought for the rights of farmers and would continue to do so,” said a Youth Congress activist. Due to the agitation, the train passengers had a tough time.
